2021-22 Resources

Dear Families,

As we get ready for the traditional recognition of, and reflection on, all that we have to be thankful for as Americans, as Catholics, and as part of the faith and academic community of The Franciscan School, I want to share a few of the things for which I am thankful.

I truly value the community of The Franciscan School and St. Francis of Assisi Parish, a community I have been involved in for the past 28 years as a parishioner, school and ministry volunteer, and grateful school faculty member. I was fortunate to be able to work on some of the committees to set up The Franciscan School in the late 1990s, and I experienced the joy of seeing the vision of Fr. Dan come to fruition in our school. As an additional benefit, I also had the chance for TFS to provide an excellent education to my children and provide me with a fulfilling career.

Any appreciation for The Franciscan School would be incomplete without mentioning the amazing faculty and staff we have here. Every day they come in and spend the whole day doing the most important job our families ask of us, assuring the academic and spiritual success of their children; we do this in partnership with parents who entrust and support us through personal sacrifice and faith in our mission. We do not take this responsibility lightly, and it is a joy to work with so many dedicated and competent professionals in such an important pursuit! The Franciscan School is a very special place. Thanks to all of you, our TFS families, for making this school the gem it is, and for your enthusiastic support and generous patronage to assure the school’s great success!

We are able to achieve all we do here because of the parent partnership mentioned above, and we value it tremendously. Please stay tuned here, join in to the Principal’s Forum on 12/2/21, and come to the HSA general meeting in January to find out more on how we can assist in addressing the social and emotional concerns that have arisen in children due to the pandemic. We want to collaborate with you in ensuring our TFS students’ successfully grow in these areas as part of their development into successful adolescents. We do this out of some sense of disquiet in what students are dealing with across the country, but also because it is an integral part of our Franciscan mission at the school to ensure the development of the whole child.

All of the faculty, staff and families of The Franciscan School hope you enjoy this time of thanksgiving, reflection, and friendship, and have safe travels, great food, and make awesome memories to recall year after year. I hope the blessings of the Lord rain down on you and your family, and I wish you all a happy, restful, and joyous Thanksgiving!

Yours in Christ’s Service,

Mike Watson, Principal
