Positions Open at The Franciscan School

Language Arts Teacher

The Franciscan School, a Catholic parochial school with K-8th grade, is seeking a qualified teacher to join our faculty as a language arts instructor.  The primary role of the teacher will be to instruct students in grammar and composition, to design a creative learning environment that introduces students to a variety of forms of the written language, and to incorporate technology to engage and challenge the students.  The candidate will demonstrate the ability to use innovation and vision to implement the goals and requirements of the Diocesan Language Arts curriculum in their lesson plans to prepare the students for their continuing education.

Candidates must have NC teaching licensure or be able to obtain NC teaching licensure. Preferred candidates will have teaching experience in Language Arts/English, and experience in utilizing various classroom technologies.

The Franciscan School is part of the Education Ministry of the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Raleigh, North Carolina. The school was established in 2000 and is rooted in the Franciscan tradition. The Franciscan School provides a learning environment that embraces the Gospel values of the Roman Catholic faith.

Assistant Principal Catholic Education and Evangelization

The Education and Formation Ministry of the Catholic Community of St. Francis seeks a creative and collaborative leader to serve as Assistant Principal for Catholic Education and Evangelization. The Assistant Principal for Catholic Education and Evangelization is responsible for the overall coordination and management of the faith formation program in the parish and in the schools. This is a leadership position in the Department of Catholic Education and Formation. This Assistant Principal position serves to unify all of faith formation within the parish (including the schools and parish faith formation programs) among all ages. This is a 12 month, full time position.

Candidates should have a Bachelors or Masters degree in a related field such as education or theology. Preferred candidates will have a background in curriculum, educational leadership and/or faith formation. Experience in Catholic schools/parishes is highly desired. In addition, candidates should be dedicated to collaborative ministry and the advancement of a vision of the Church as promoted by Vatican Council II. Candidates should be self-motivated and creative and have excellent writing and public speaking skills.
