Charitable Giving to TFS

As a ministry of the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi, TFS relies heavily on the generosity of parents, parishioners, and other donors for both capital and annual giving. That giving has built buildings, endowed scholarships, and provided for program enrichment since The Franciscan School’s inception.

United States tax laws traditionally have encouraged charitable contributions by allowing income, gift and estate tax deductions for gifts to qualifying charities. Choosing the right method and timing in making such a contribution can increase tax savings and reduce the net costs of the contributions. The bulk of TFS’s fundraising is overseen by the Home and School Association and coordinated carefully with the larger parish.

Making gifts to a qualified organization generally will be entitled to a tax deduction, the amount of which will depend upon the identity of the donor, the type of charitable organization to which the gift is made, the type of property contributed, and if goods or services were received.

A gift tax charitable deduction, which applies in the case of lifetime gifts made to qualified charitable organizations, is similarly unlimited and closely parallels the estate tax charitable deduction but with some variation.

The School welcomes gifts of cash and ordinary income property, appreciated securities, appreciated real estate, bequests, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, life estate contracts, and contributions of life insurance policies.

Please be directly in touch with TFS regarding your interest in making a charitable gift to the school.
