Home and School Association

Dear TFS Families:

Welcome to the 2011-2012 Franciscan School year!  What an exciting year that lies ahead for all of us!  To our returning families of students, welcome back! And to the families of new students, we offer an especially warm welcome. The Franciscan School Home and School Association (H.S.A.) is an organization comprised of TFS parents, teachers, parishioners and others who care about the ongoing growth, improvement, and success of the school.  It is an organization that is similar to a PTA with the following main points of emphasis as its purpose:

  1. To promote the spiritual and educational interactions of the home and school in order to enhance the curriculum of the students.
  2. To raise funds to provide monies for items and activities that will enhance the curriculum of the students.
  3. To assist in organizing volunteers to provide enhanced activities in and out of the classroom for various functions, activities and events.
  4. To be a collaborative association that welcomes involvement from all parents, guardians, teachers and parishioners.
  5. Provide well-planned programs, of particular interest to students, parents and faculty.

Being involved as a Volunteer with the H.S.A. is the key to being connected to your child’s school.

  • Read through the H.S.A. 2011-2012 Parent Guide which includes descriptions of our committees and a list of volunteer opportunities. Think about how much time you have to offer as a volunteer and what type of activity you would like to do. Volunteering is a great way to meet other parents, meet your child’s classmates, and get to know the school staff.
  • If you still have questions/comments about the H.S.A. or about getting involved, you will find a list of H.S.A. officers and committee chairs in the Parent Guide . Do not hesitate to call a board member with your questions or comments. We need to hear from you about what you would like to see the H.S.A involved with and how the H.S.A. can work best with the school.
  • Attend the three general H.S.A. meetings; see the calendar in the Parent Guide for the specific dates. The meetings will consist of a brief business meeting along with informative, educational programs on relevant topics for school age parents.   We hope that you will mark your calendar to attend.

Once again, on behalf of the TFS H.S.A. board and myself, welcome to a new and exciting school year at The Franciscan School!
