TFS School Profile

As a ministry of the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi, The Franciscan School is faithful to the mission of the parish, "We are one family, living in community, confronted, challenged, and comforted by the Word of God, reaching out to all persons and their families."

The school opened its doors in the fall of 2000 with 320 students and has more than doubled to 693 students in 2009. As of the fall of 2009, TFS has three sections at each grade level with capacity of 81 students per grade.

Students and families are drawn largely from the Catholic Community of St. Francis, with some families commuting from a 20-mile radius that includes Cary, Durham, and Wake Forest.

In 2007-08, 15% of TFS students received over $181,000 in need-based financial aid from a parish tithe and from endowed resources of over $600,000 established early in the life of the school to keep TFS accessible to all students regardless of financial need (see Financial Aid).

The Franciscan School admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin, or gender. It does not discriminate on the basis of any race, color, national or ethnic origin, or gender in the administration of its admissions, employment, or educational programs or policies.
