Our hiring process

The Franciscan School is part of the Education Ministry of the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Raleigh, North Carolina. The K – 8th grade school was established in 2000 and is rooted in the Franciscan tradition. The Franciscan School provides a learning environment that embraces the Gospel values of the Roman Catholic faith.

Successful applicants would be responsible for working together with the entire faculty and the administrative team to provide a safe and academically challenging environment – one that builds upon the charism of the Catholic Church, and our Franciscan traditions, to form our students as fine young men and women prepared for their future academically, socially, and morally.

Candidates must pass a background check and have NC teaching licensure or be able to obtain NC teaching licensure. Preferred candidates will have teaching experience in education and a record of excellence.

Open Positions at The Franciscan School

The Franciscan School is seeking a highly qualified classroom teacher in the 3rd or 4th grade. The primary role of the classroom teacher is to instruct students in the Diocesan Curriculum for that specific grade, while challenging them to move beyond their current level of academic success. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to draw the students out to reach their full potential as it applies to the goals and requirements of the Diocesan curriculum. As an instructor in a school with over 650 students, the ability to tie together the lessons within each grade as part of the grade level team, and make them build upon each other year after year, using established best practices and methods for instruction, is essential.

The Franciscan School is seeking a highly qualified teacher to join our middle school as the full time 6th grade science teacher. Preferred candidates will have teaching experience in science instruction in the middle grades, and experience in utilizing various classroom technologies. Additionally, the science teacher in 6th grade will work with the other middle school science teachers to ensure a clear progression through the grade level, assist in coordinating the school’s annual Science Fair, and provide other elective opportunities. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to use innovation and vision to implement the goals and requirements of the Diocesan Science curriculum in their lesson plans to prepare the students for their continuing education.

Long Term Substitute, Full-time beginning in August 2020
This position is a 2 month temporary, long term substitute position.
The primary role of this long term substitute teacher will be to implement and adjust the lesson plans that are already developed for 5th and 6th grade Spanish students. The position will help improve the students’ knowledge, skills and abilities in comprehending, speaking, reading and writing the Spanish language. An understanding and knowledge of classroom management and technology is required. Preferred candidates will have an NC teaching license and experience teaching Spanish.

We are currently seeking candidates to work in our Bridges After School Program on a part-time basis beginning in August. Candidates must have a strong desire to work with children, be at least 18 years old, and pass a background screening. Bridges staff work within the program hours of Monday through Friday from 2 to 6 pm. If interested, please submit a cover letter and resume to Joey Bradshaw, Head of Bridges.
