The Franciscan School is part of the Education Ministry of the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Raleigh, North Carolina. The K – 8th grade school was established in 2000 and is rooted in the Franciscan tradition. The Franciscan School provides a learning environment that embraces the Gospel values of the Roman Catholic faith.

Successful applicants would be responsible for working together with the entire faculty and the administrative team to provide a safe and academically challenging environment – one that builds upon the charism of the Catholic Church, and our Franciscan traditions, to form our students as fine young men and women prepared for their future academically, socially, and morally.

Candidates must pass a background check and have NC teaching licensure or be able to obtain NC teaching licensure. Preferred candidates will have teaching experience in education and a record of excellence.

Open Positions at The Franciscan School

The Franciscan School is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified elementary classroom teacher. The primary role of the classroom teacher will be to instruct students in the Diocesan Curriculum, while challenging them to move beyond their current level of academic success.  The candidate will demonstrate the ability to draw the students out to reach their full potential as it applies to the goals and requirements of the Diocesan curriculum. As an instructor in a school with over 600 students, the ability to tie together the lessons within each grade as part of the grade level team, and have them build upon each other year after year, using established best practices and methods for instruction, is essential. The applicant would be primary for teaching various academic subjects and Religion.  S/he will work together with the entire faculty and the administrative team to provide a safe and academically challenging environment.  One that builds upon the charism of the Catholic Church, and our Franciscan traditions, to form our students as fine young men and women prepared for their futures academically, socially, and morally.

Candidates must have Bachelor’s Degree and be a Catholic in good standing. Preferred candidates will have a NC teaching licensure or be able to obtain NC teaching licensure and have teaching experience in elementary education with a record of excellence.

We have an immediate opening on our campus for a facility maintenance technician. This position is responsible for ensuring all areas of the campus are in good repair, maintaining a safe environment and professional appearance of all campus buildings. This position supports the ministries of the parish to better serve our community by:

· Performing needed maintenance and repairs on all parish buildings, facilities and grounds, including painting, assisting in snow and ice removal, and minor janitorial projects, as needed

· Performing emergency maintenance to include pest control, plumbing repair, minor electrical repairs, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment

· Assisting in setting up and breakdown for events and parish activities

· Responding to fire, security and panic alarms

· Conducting periodic inspections on emergency equipment including fire alarms, emergency lights, AED’s, First Aid Kits, generators, etc.

The maintenance technician may work varying shifts, as needed. As scheduled or needed, the technician must be able to respond to campus emergencies including alarms and urgent maintenance matters while off-duty within an reasonable timeframe.

A 2-Year degree in facility management or a construction trade, or a minimum of 3 years experience in the aforementioned fields or in a general maintenance environment.

Immediate Opening for a Kindergarten Instructional Teaching Assistant at

The Franciscan School

The Franciscan School, a Catholic parochial school with grades K-8th, is seeking an Instructional Teacher Assistant (ITA) for one of our kindergarten classrooms.  This is a full-time position assisting the lead teachers and grade level team in creating a classroom environment that is consistent with the mission of the school and the parish.  The candidate will provide classroom support to the lead teacher in each classroom by providing general assistance with daily tasks, such as copying and planning for lessons, small group assistance, supervision of students when necessary, handling of classroom management issues when appropriate, and assisting with special projects, such as field trips.  The ITA is expected to attend parish staff gatherings, conferences, and will collaborate as a member of the team to provide academic excellence for the students.
