Now in her fourth year at The Franciscan School, Mrs. Kathleen Loeschorn brings both technical expertise and a deep love for education to her role as Technology Coordinator. Before joining TFS, she worked in the IT department for a large hospital group, supporting the finance team, and then took time to focus on her family after moving to North Carolina. Her journey in education began at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School in Apex, where she managed technology for both the school and parish, and discovered her passion for teaching students. “That experience deepened my love for working in a faith-based school community and supporting both students and staff in their use of technology,” Mrs. Loeschorn shares.
With an associate degree in business from New Hampshire Technical Institute and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from New Hampshire College (now Southern New Hampshire University), Mrs. Loeschorn combines strong organizational skills with a heart for helping others learn and grow.
“What I love most about my job is getting to work with both our amazing students and dedicated staff, “says Mrs. Loeschorn. “I truly enjoy watching those 'AHA' moments when something clicks, whether it's a student figuring out a new skill or a teacher discovering a new tool that makes their day easier.”
A typical day for Mrs. Loeschorn is filled with energy, variety, and problem-solving. This year, she’s teaching technology to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. It’s a role that keeps her moving across classrooms and engaging with learners of all ages. One of the highlights of her schedule is partnering with Mrs. McCann in the Media Center, where the two collaborate on lesson planning and student projects designed to make learning more interactive and fun.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Loeschorn provides daily technology support for students and staff. This includes maintaining all the student Chromebooks and supporting the many digital tools across campus, such as Google Workspace, iReady, Hapara, Destiny, LobbyGuard, and more. “Helping others become more confident problem-solvers, especially when it comes to technology, is incredibly rewarding. I enjoy helping others feel more confident with tech.”
While Mrs. Loeschorn finds great joy in her work, sometimes it is a challenge to help students understand how to be safe and responsible online, especially as they begin to explore social media and other digital spaces. She emphasizes that they must learn how to protect their privacy, make wise choices, and think critically about what they see and share. Mrs. Loeschorn wants to empower students to see technology as a powerful tool for learning and creativity, rather than just entertainment. “Teaching them to use it with purpose and balance is an ongoing goal, but one that’s incredibly important,” she says.
For Mrs. Loeschorn, each day at TFS is an opportunity to make a difference, whether it’s sparking curiosity in a young learner or helping a teacher feel more confident with technology. “The support from our parents and staff makes this a place where I feel appreciated and inspired every day.”
