The Franciscan School is part of the Education Ministry of the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Raleigh, North Carolina. The K—8th grade school was established in 2000 and is rooted in the Franciscan tradition. It provides a learning environment that embraces the Gospel values of the Roman Catholic faith.

 

Successful applicants would be responsible for working together with the entire faculty and the administrative team to provide a safe and academically challenging environment - one that builds upon the charism of the Catholic Church and our Franciscan traditions, to form our students as fine young men and women prepared for their future academically, socially, and morally.

 

Candidates must pass a background check and have NC teaching licensure or be able to obtain NC teaching licensure. Preferred candidates will have teaching experience in education and a record of excellence.

Afterschool Program Staff (Part-time)

The Franciscan School is seeking energetic candidates with a positive attitude and love of children to work in our Bridges Afterschool Program.  Hours and days of the week are flexible, Monday thru Friday 3pm – 6pm.  Bridges staff are responsible for the supervision and well-being of students in our program. Facility Maintenance Technician – Full Time (40 hours – some nights and weekends may be required)

Position Summary:

The maintenance technician is responsible for ensuring all areas of the campus are in good repair, maintaining a safe environment and professional appearance of all campus buildings.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform needed maintenance and repairs on all parish buildings, facilities and grounds, which include our two schools
  • Perform emergency maintenance to include pest control, plumbing repair, minor electrical repairs, assisting in snow and ice removal, painting, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment
  • Assist in setting up/taking down events and parish activities
  • Respond to fire, security, and panic alarms
  • Conduct periodic inspections on emergency equipment including fire alarms, emergency lights, AED’s, First Aid Kits, generators, etc.
  • Ability to work varying shifts when assigned, if needed, and participate on a rotating basis at liturgies and other special events when needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education
    • 2 year degree in facility management or construction trade, or at least 3 years experience in aforementioned fields or in a general maintenance role
  • Other Requirements
    • Experience in reading building plans, schematic diagrams and instructional manuals.
    • Ability to lift/move 50 pounds at times
    • Strong communication and customer service skills, as this position will interact with employees, volunteers, parishioners and vendors.
    • Ability walk, sit, talk, hear, climb ladders, operate equipment and tools (such as: computer, hand tools, power tools and specialized tools)
    • Familiar with:

i. carpentry, drywall and related construction products,

ii. plumbing technology (connections, fittings, shut off for pvc, black pipe, copper, drain lines, toilets, commercial flush valves, etc.)

iii. electrical technology (conduit, 110v, 277 v, romex, low voltage lines and switches, basic alarm panels, etc.)

    • Required to move furnishings and set up/break down for events.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Employment is contingent upon applicant’s satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
  • Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 30 days of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with plumbing repair work
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish)
