The Franciscan School is part of the Education Ministry of the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Raleigh, North Carolina. The K—8th grade school was established in 2000 and is rooted in the Franciscan tradition. It provides a learning environment that embraces the Gospel values of the Roman Catholic faith.

 

Successful applicants would be responsible for working together with the entire faculty and the administrative team to provide a safe and academically challenging environment - one that builds upon the charism of the Catholic Church and our Franciscan traditions, to form our students as fine young men and women prepared for their future academically, socially, and morally.

 

Candidates must pass a background check and have NC teaching licensure or be able to obtain NC teaching licensure. Preferred candidates will have teaching experience in education and a record of excellence.

School Nurse – Full Time

The school nurse is an integral part of the administrative team. The nurse provides on-site access to health triage services, promotes the health, safety, and well-being of the students. The nurse communicates with families and provides expertise and guidance campus-wide.

Key responsibilities:

  • Individual health assessments for students
  • Coordinates care plans for students with medical conditions, meeting with family members and staff to establish care plans.
  • Administers medications, as needed, during school hours
  • Emergency and injury care, planning and training. Recording information the school database and contacts parents if there is a medical incident at school
  • Maintain accurate immunization records and processes physical forms
  • Assess school community health and safety issues
  • Screens students for conditions that impact education, such as vision and hearing
  • Serves as a resource for administration and grade level teams regarding health related student accommodations
  • Provides basic first aid and CPR, as needed
  • Educates staff on the use of Epi Pens and other medica devices, as needed
  • Interfaces with school counselors and administrators regarding students who frequently visit the health room

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum level Degree/Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field
  • Current NC nursing license
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Caring and empathetic demeanor
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a criminal background and reference check; must complete Diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pediatric experience
  • Previous school nurse experience

Assistant Principal

The Franciscan School is seeking a faith-filled and dedicated Assistant Principal who will support our Catholic identity, champion curriculum development, maintain a positive and orderly school climate, and serve as a key partner in guiding our growing school community.

Instructional Teaching Assistant - Grade 5

We are seeking an energetic and caring person for an Instructional Teacher Assistant (ITA) position working with our 5th grade team. This is a full-time position assisting the grade level team in creating a classroom environment that is consistent with the mission of the school and the parish. The ITA will support the lead teachers by providing general assistance with daily tasks, such as copying and planning for lessons, small group assistance, supervision of students when necessary, handling of classroom management issues when appropriate, and assisting with special projects, such as field trips. The ITA is expected to attend parish staff gatherings, conferences, and will collaborate as a member of the team to provide academic excellence for the students.

Coordinator, Bridges Afterschool Program (Part Time – 25 hours per week)

The Bridges Coordinator is responsible for the overall running of the Bridges After School program. This includes policy recommendations, supervision of staff, purchasing supplies, facilitating outside vendors, and interacting with parents as it relates to their child’s time in the program.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervision of Bridges staff, which includes scheduling, setting expectations, directing daily activities and reviewing performance.
  • Recommend Bridges policies and procedures to the school administrative team
  • Make hiring recommendations to administrative team
  • Assists with set-up of games, toys, and snacks in preparation of check in as well as clean up
  • Coordinates with those offering other school programs on campus.
  • Assures monitoring of student behavior during inside and outside play, addresses misbehavior, and reinforces rules that promote safety for everyone in the program.
  • Documents or assists with documenting behavior concerns and accident reports
  • Purchases snacks and supplies, within budge parameters, using the school credit card
  • Partners with parents to assure proper conduct during Bridges in adherence with Bridges and TFS policy
  • Communicates with staff regarding student transport to and from different locations on campus to ensure sustained supervision
  • Maintains computer for Bridges attendance and roster – coordinating with afterschool activities of the students.
  • Communicates with TFS bookkeeper regarding parent late pick up.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Welcomes and engages with parents during afternoon pick up
  • Participates in staff meetings and all employee gatherings
  • Adheres to the Parish Mission and Diocesan guidelines
  • Complies with the rules and guidelines in the employee handbook

Afterschool Program Staff (Part Time)

The Franciscan School is seeking energetic candidates with a positive attitude and love of children to work in our Bridges Afterschool Program.  Hours and days of the week are flexible, Monday thru Friday 3pm – 6pm.  Bridges staff are responsible for the supervision and well-being of students in our program.
